Six Flags Over Texas Unleashes Tormenta Rampaging Run: A Record-Breaking Thrill Coming to Arlington
Six Flags Over Texas is preparing to make history with the arrival of Tormenta Rampaging Run, a massive new roller coaster that is set to redefine the thrill experience in Arlington. Slated to open in 2026 as part of the park’s 65th anniversary celebration, the ride is already generating excitement across North Texas and among coaster fans nationwide.
Tormenta Rampaging Run is not just another attraction. It will be the world’s first giga dive coaster, combining extreme height with the signature vertical drop style of a dive coaster. When it opens, the ride is expected to break six world records, making it one of the most ambitious projects in Six Flags Over Texas history.
A Texas-Sized Thrill
The numbers behind Tormenta are impressive. Riders will climb to a height of 309 feet before plunging down a 285-foot drop at a beyond-vertical 95-degree angle. The coaster will reach speeds of 87 miles per hour and stretch across 4,199 feet of track, delivering nearly three minutes of high-speed action.
Among its record-setting features:
- Tallest dive coaster in the world at 309 feet
- Fastest dive coaster at 87 mph
- Longest dive coaster at 4,199 feet
- Tallest vertical loop at 179 feet
- Highest Immelmann inversion at 218 feet
- Highest 95-degree beyond-vertical drop
The towering 179-foot loop alone will become the tallest vertical loop ever built on any roller coaster.
Inspired by the Running of the Bulls
The ride’s theme is based on Spain’s famous Running of the Bulls, designed to make riders feel like they are racing through danger at high speed. Sharp turns, sudden drops, and moments of weightlessness are meant to recreate the intensity and unpredictability of the event.
Tormenta will be located in a brand new themed area called Rancho de la Tormenta, a Spanish village setting complete with festive music, colorful décor, and a new restaurant, Cocina Abuela.
A Major Investment for Arlington
Park officials say Tormenta Rampaging Run represents a major investment in the future of Six Flags Over Texas and the Arlington entertainment district. The massive structure is already changing the local skyline and is expected to draw thrill seekers from across Texas and beyond once it opens.
The new coaster also replaces several former attractions in the park’s Spain section, making way for a refreshed and modern experience.
What It Means for North Texas
With Arlington already home to AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Field, and Texas Live, the addition of a world-record-breaking coaster strengthens the city’s reputation as a major entertainment destination. For Six Flags fans, Tormenta Rampaging Run signals that the original Six Flags park is continuing to evolve while staying competitive with top theme parks across the country.
When Tormenta opens in 2026, it is expected to become a must-ride attraction for adrenaline seekers and one of the most talked-about roller coasters in the world.
For North Texas thrill lovers, the message is simple. Get ready to hold on tight. The storm is coming.
